Hello and Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Thathiny, commonly known as Thiny (Tee Nee). I’m 16 years old and I’m from Phnom Penh, the Capital of Cambodia. I’ve been at the Liger Leadership Academy since I was nine years old. This place has shaped me to be a more confident person and a better thinker.
I am a believer in learning from reading. I believe that every book teaches us at least one life lesson. So every time I finished one book, I try to find a takeaway. For example, in the book Wonder by R.J Palacio, I learned to be more open to and appreciative of the differences and uniqueness around me; I also came to clearly realize that there’s always a chance that anyone I meet on the street has a bad day, and we should all treat each other as such.
Above that, I am a feminist. I believe everyone deserves to pursue what they dream of doing as long as they don’t harm any. I believe everyone deserves to express who they are without being afraid of judgment. I believe in equality for everyone.
I am also an environmental activist. Our environment has drastically and negatively changed since human figured out ways to live more conveniently. I believe as the population continues to increase, we have to consider the fact that earth’s resources are limited and find sustainable ways to live our lives. In the future, I want to be an environmental conservationist so that I can advocate for a lifestyle that would maximize the efficiency of our resource and minimize our effect on the environment.
